Apparently, because I scolded my brother for writing "heheh" instead of "heh heh" - and I'm not being ridiculous! Maybe if the middle h had a diacritical mark for the consonant version of this? - he felt I needed to hear the following joke (over g-chat).
Knock knock
(that's be kind of funny if I left it at that and waited for a commenter to write "who's there?")
Oblique case.
Oblique case who?
No, you illiterate - it's oblique case whom
So, I'm convinced that this joke could be funnier with a first response that necessarily calls for a "whom" - but I'm having a hard time coming up with one given that the rest of the sentence could be anything.
so, like: knock knock. who's there?
oh wait!
I've got it!
OK.
Knock knock.

Who's there?
The person to.
Oh, wait, now you can skip ahead and say "the person to whom." It's like the adult version of "I 1 the sandbox," if you're familiar with that.
I just tried it out on a co-worker, and it got laughs (although we are writers). New favorite joke!
I deleted Anonymous's comment because it had my (first and last!) name - but he - OR SHE - had written:
As long as this is getting out there, the original joke I heard first on The Best Show on WFMU, and Patton Oswalt told it.
Also, the official end of the joke is "Actually it's "the person to whom.""
The guy with a reddened face is whom?
Me.
Sorry LI!

This joke is, after a bewildering Wikipedia lookup on the oblique case, very funny. I hope to unsuccessfully share your version with friends soon.
Apropos of nothing, I thought I'd share the list of suggested domain names I could try purchasing when the one with my name turned up already taken:
daveanger.com
daveannoy.com
davecraze.com
daveirritate.com
daveanger.net
daveannoy.net
davecraze.net
daveirritate.net
daveanger.org
daveannoy.org
davecraze.org
davidannoy.com
daveirritate.org
davidannoy.net
davidannoy.org
You're, like, the only person I can think of right now who would appreciate such a list. Probably I could have emailed this to you. Do I have you address?
you should. I'll send it to you.
Dusty, that is ridiculously awesome.
I thought I'd try it because, hey, my last name is a word too (and my domain name is taken by me), but I got these suggestions:
NerdEtte.net
Neral.net
Weiz.net
WeISkiRchen.net
NerdIRect.com
Weiberts.com
MattPlanet.net
MattMan.net
MattKing.net
Why does it go straight to "NerdEtte"?
Another suggestion was "mattfairtrial.com," which is not what I think of as a synonym for my name. I don't see why they aren't going for synonyms; mattcock.net is totally available.
NerdEtte? Seriously? And not MattKingCole.net?
One of my favorite things that I've ever heard you say was when I threatened to take (yourcurrentdomainname).com and fill it with porn, and you said worse would be to fill it with specious ideas about philosophy.
And now it's filled with Florida real estate. (Aw, shucks.)
